English, Science, and History
Greetings to the whole Burton community! My name is Ricky Lee Rountree, and I am venturing forth into my first year of teaching. I feel very honored and privileged to be given this opportunity to start my career at such a fabulous school. I was born and raised here in Porterville, California and have watched a small town grow into a robust city . Family and faith are my foundations for an ecstatic, enjoyable, and entertaining life. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Dinorah, for nearly 17 years. We have three beautifully amazing children: Selena Gisselle, Steven Roger, and Brandon Lee.
My educational journey through the college ranks originated back in 1990. I attended CSU Bakersfield right out of High School with my major being Political Science; however, I returned to Porterville, after my short stint at CSUB, where I began attending Porterville College. From 1992 through 1997, I was in and out of P.C. and could not decide upon which direction to gravitate towards. I started working for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in 1997, married my wife in 1999, and had my first child in 2002. I became a trainer at my job and in 2010 began teaching Sunday School at my church. I strongly feel that these two aspects of my life, training at work and teaching at church, directed my calling to the field of the outstanding profession of teaching. In 2112, I returned to P.C. and obtained my Associate of Arts degree after completing my final three courses. In 2013, I then enrolled at National University where, in 2016, I completed my course work and student teaching that allowed me to be presented with the Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with my Multiple Subjects Credential.
I look forward to having an opportunity of positively impacting the lives of our students and families. It is never too late to to turn your problems into solutions. Our students at the middle school level are at a threshold of greatness, and I hope to be able to contribute in a small way at allowing them to see that greatness within and accommodating them at growing it into something truly wonderful.
