Degrees and Certifications:
I’m Omar Lopez. I will continue my career as an educator at Burton Middle School this School year. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching mathematics for 12 years and look forward to working with the students and families of Burton Middle School. I was born in Mexico and migrated to the United State at the age of 12. I grew up in Salinas, California and moved my family to the awesome community of Porterville in 2004. My wife Vanessa and I share the love of our three children Omar, Vanessa and Andrea. Recently our family was blessed with our grandchild Mason, son of my daughter Vanessa and Cody (son-in law).
I have a minor in Computer Business Administration, a Major in Information Technology and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Bradman University. My Single Subject Credential in mathematics allows me to teach math at the secondary level.
I believe all children can learn and believe in using their strengths to guide them in the understanding of the wonderful world of mathematics.
I believe in literacy and relevance. If I’m able to help a student understand why they are learning mathematics, then I can help them love the math and become literate on the subject.
I believe in technology and its power to facilitate the understanding of mathematics and their application to the fast pace world we live in.
I believe in student success both academically and professionally. Using student’s strengths and helping them build their areas in which they can grow will make this success possible.
I’m excited to share these believes with your student and will work hard to exceed their expectations.
