Integrated Social Studies
Hello Burton Middle School families. My name is Kevin Branco and I have been in education for the past eighteen years. This is my first year at BMS and I am very excited to be here and proud to be a Bulldog. I will be teaching seventh grade integrated social studies.
I was born and raised in Visalia, California and graduated from Fresno State University with a Batchelor's in history. I furthered my education by attending Fresno Pacific Universith where I earned my teaching credentials and a Masters in education with an emphasis in educational counseling. I taught sixth grade for four years in a small rural school in Tulare and then I taught junior high history for the last fourteen years at the same school. I had the unique and exciting opportunity to transfer to BMS and work with an incredably supportive staff and use technology in my teaching practices like I have never had the opportunity before.
I especially enjoy spending my free time with my wife and children. My favorite place to go and relax is the beach. I have a unique respect for the ocean. It is a world all of its own. I also enjoy reading, hiking, biking, and playing golf.
History is my passion and my goals as an educator are for my students at BMS to develop skills that make them college and or career ready and better citizens in their communities. As an educator I am proud to be a positive role model for my student's. I belive in providing a safe and comfortable learning environment in which my student's will not be afraid to take chances but also make mistakes. Making mistakes is part of the learning process and one can not be afraid to do so.
History is alive if you just dive in and learn the stories of average individuals like you and me that have done interesting and extraordinay things. I believe my student's can be the change factors in our world. They just have to take the initiative and choose to do so. I am excited to be a part of it.
