Science and History
Hello Burton Middle School students and parents! My name is Vanessa Gonzales and I teach seventh grade history and science at BMS. Over the past ten years, I have had the opportunity to work with students of all ages, but this will be my first year teaching at BMS. I was raised in Strathmore, CA by two great parents and I now live in Strathmore with my wonderful husband of ten years. I am very excited to be able to teach in an area so close to where I grew up and I'm proud to be part of the BMS family!
After graduating from Strathmore High, I attended UC Santa Barbara where I earned a bachelor's degree in zoology. Because of my passion for learning, I decided to further my education by attending Fresno State where I received a master's degree in biology.
I can personally attest to the impact that parents have on the academic success of their children. The importance of education was instilled in me from a very young age by both of my parents. I believe when children are inspired to learn they gain an appreciation for education that will continue into adulthood. I want to be a partner with you in educating your child and preparing them to become college and career ready. My goal as a teacher is to create a positive learning environment where children can feel respected and comfortable enough to ask questions, learn from their mistakes, and collaborate with their peers.
I look forward to working with you to make sure your child has a successful year! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
